The Mantachie High School Junior Civitan Club participated in a Joint Project with the West Itawamba Civitan Club on December 3, 2009.  We hosted a fish fry to raise money for the family of a Mantachie student who passed away in October from bone cancer.   We were able to make a sizeable donation to the York family and a small donation to St. Jude.  Below are some pictures:

Unfortunately, our recycling project has been put on hold due to the plummeting recycling market.  We have a company researching ways to help us get this exciting and needed project going by August.  Our club fed breakfast to the 10th grade class before their state writing test.

In late April, 2009, we collected money for Le Bonheur.  We gave a $200 donation to the Emma Pearl Scott family.  Her parents are Eddie and Kelly Scott.  Kelly is a member of our sponsoring club, Tupelo Luncheon Civitans.  Their family was one of four families competing in Le Bonheur's "Family Affair" contest to raise money for the new Le Bonheur hospital.  Pictured below presenting the money to Kelly Scott are Junior Civitan members Haley Ables (VP) and Brittany Ballard:

Our club, with the generous help of Bancorpsouth and Farmers & Merchants Bank, fed breakfast to approximately 250 students who were taking the state Subject Area Tests on April 28, April 29, April 30, and May 1.

FALL ACTIVITIES UPDATE:

Our club, with the generous help of Bancorpsouth and Farmers & Merchants Bank, fed breakfast to approximately 40 students who were taking the state Subject Area Retests on September 22, 23, 24, & 25.

Some of our club members participated in the 2nd Annual Saltillo Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome on Saturday, October 4, at Saltillo City Park.  Several students donated pocket change for “Bethany’s Butterflies.”  We received a very nice thank you from them!  Go to these links for more information:

We are encouraging everyone to mail one extra Christmas card this year:

Below is a picture of the items we mailed to soldiers in Afghanistan in November 2008.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this effort!
